Oh. I just thought maybe you had a web address from a newspaper or something. Maybe your friend was thinking of the one in Canada. The victim was a singer and apparently well known in some parts.
It's never wise to mess with wildlife, which is why they warn you not to feed the bears in the parks, or get too close to the deer or elk!
We have mountain lions all over the place in this area. People go out walking on the trails and encounter them. The paper is always mentioning such encounters and then giving instructions of what to do (don't run, make yourself look as big as possible, etc.). I never saw one, but I know they are on the grounds of the university where I used to work.
I don't even want to mess with the raccoons that come to my patio!

Were they just freed off to the wild? Where is this and when did this happen? I guess no idea how they got there. They're not talkin'!

Thanks Miss Gordon, I really like these types of stories to see ourselves as a species still doing good in our world. ;D From my understanding they were released back into the wild. I tried to look at the origin of the photo the best I got was that I received this email on Dec. 14 2012 along with several other people in a mass email delivery to friends and family. When this actually occurred I can't determine that the photo didn't have that information embedded in it. Glad you enjoyed it. ;D Very Much Ace!!!!

I got it a year or two ago so it's been around for a while. Probably impossible to say where it originated.

Many years ago, when I worked at the university, I went to work fairly early, and one morning there was a low fog, so I was driving very carefully and slower than usual. Thank goodness, for as I maneuvered around a curve suddenly a dozen or so deer appeared in the fog ahead of me on the road. It was a very eerie sight seeing those animals in and out of the swirling fog as they crossed ahead of me. A sight I've never forgotten.

The butt end of a skunk is definitely not a sight you want to see. Hopefully, you got away with just the view and not the lingering after effects.
Quite a number of years ago I was sitting eating a cheese sandwich on the beach while talking to a friend. I was happily gesticulating with the sandwich when a craftly gull came up from behind and snatched it. Wildlife knows how to get the better of us sometimes ;D

my last dog looked like that black lab! He always had a ball in his mouth and used to jump out the window to go to the beach. And had body surfing down to an art...

How did you get them all to stay in one place? My niece sent me this picture she took this morning of a bobcat on her deck at her house in the H-wood Hills. It was still a bit dark, and she was unable to use her good camera so took it with her iPad. I cleaned it up a bit with Photoshop, and you can see the lovely "kitty." She suspects it was waiting for the usual morning contingent of squirrels!

Ooh, CalGal, I want one! Or at least I want to see one. I've never seen a bobcat and it's definitely on my list. Since we don't have mountain lions in the East, bobcats are our only wildcats.

We have them in this area, but you have to live in the rural part of the county, or at least the outskirts of town. My niece sees all kinds of critters in the Hollywood Hills! I've never seen one "live" myself. Beautiful animals.
