What a beautiful color she is. "Brandy" is a perfect name for her. I love her little round pouty muzzle, what a cutie-pie. And I can see her freckles too!

Java and I were in our first herding trial. She did great and got 3rd place in her class! Waiting to enter the field. Java knows she is going to work sheep! Walking down the center of the field. Java has to keep the sheep behind me. Rounding the cone at the end of the field. Now we head to the first of 3 chutes. Moving the sheep through the first chute. It is 4 feet wide and all 5 sheep have to go through it. There are 2 more chutes before the end of the course. Heading toward the exit. Java is in position to prevent the sheep from bolting to the exit gate.

Third place is pretty darn good for a first trial. Way to go, Java!

Wonderful! Once in a while I get to see these herding skills up close at demonstrations and I'm simply mesmerized by the energy and concentration these dogs have. Congratulations to Java and you both! Well done!

That's magnificent, DT! Looks like he's standing on a mirror. Good shot! I printed it out and deliberately handed it to my mother upside down. She was unsure about which way was right side up. And she was with me when I took the picture!

Hi all, this very lovely and very modest critter is Bracha, our eldest 'kitten' who will be 8 years old in June. She was a rescue, someone brought her into a police station in a small town back in Ohio and she'd been left beside the road at about 6 months of age, or so. And the police dispatcher there was the daughter of a friend who let us know about the lost kitten and we took her in right away. Well, Bracha's at the vet this week, so I came here to ask for your good thoughts, as pet lovers all and friends, cause she has to have at least two teeth out, which we knew would have to be done but didn't know when exactly. And since she seemed pretty lively the last five months or so, in fact until a couple days ago... we didn't hurry. And I'm sure we should have, but it wasn't possible. Sigh. So Bracha will be home late Thursday or sometime Friday and be on soft food for a while, which she hasn't had very often since she was a baby. But she's a lover, even if she has somewhat of a 'top cat' attitude. When she's feeling lively, she's always giving the younger two Shoshi and Mullaney a lot of grief.

Best of luck to Bracha! At 8 she's no youngster, but she should come through with flying colors. Will be thinking about her and do keep us up to date.

Speedy recovery to Bracha! I had to put my Chance on wet cat food to lose weight. What a fight. She likes the cheaper cat food, but I insist that she eat some of the higher-end cans every other day. Chance likes chicken best so she gets Natural Balance Chicken & Green Pea and Salmon & Green Pea, for cheaper cat food she likes the various gravy lovers from Fancy Feast.
If you buy bigger cans and only feed half, take the other half out of the fridge a little while before you feed it to bring it up to room temperature. My cats much prefer it that way.
Most of the expensive cat food is ground and the Fancy Feast gravy lovers is very small bites. Ground may be easier for Bracha while her mouth is sore.

The vet already suggested soft foods for a while when Bracha comes home. And it just really makes sense. One of the signs we saw in the past few days was that she wasn't devouring her favorite indoor kibble as she usually does. In fact she has been known to tear a bag of kibble open, LOL before it can go into its bin.

He will try to head butt your hand and get you out of the way when he's trying to get at whatever I'm trying to put down for him. If he ever had to go on a soft food diet he would starve...no matter how hungry he is the only soft food he will eat his deli sliced brown sugar honey ham lol

Thanks everyone for your good wishes and good thoughts for Bracha. She's home, after having 5 teeth pulled, and the vet did some blood tests which are not back yet, the results. But looking at her Bracha seems happier than a few days ago and has no problem eating the canned food, watered down as the vet suggested, to the consistency of a milkshake.
So of course we're happier too, and we just have some antibiotics and prednisone to give her.. pilling cats is sooo fun as I know many of you folks know. But we're just glad the vet didn't think anything more serious is going on with our Little Old Lady, Bracha. Her name is Bracha because she came to us after we'd lost the last of a whole crew of cats from California. Bracha means blessing and that's just what this fiesty, pretty, top-cat has been and is.
thanks much again!
