Like many others, the episode follows the general script--with some alterations in dialogue and action. There's a few minor extra scenes.
I have two questions.
One, in scene 76, it is stated that Artemus is still holding a thin rope that apaprently trails from the gate. I'm pretty sure that's not in the episode, and it isn't followed up on in the script either. ?? Left in from a previous version perhaps.
The second question is more mystifying. It occurs in scene 11, when Jim responds to Mauvais' explanation about why Cochon has an artificial leg:
Don’t tell me; and when it comes time for him to be fitted with an artificial limb, he chose— (Sonny Tufts) —one made of iron?
Now usually a parenthetical phrase usually gives the actor/director a clue as to how the next line is supposed to be given. What the heck does "Sonny Tufts" mean in acting lingo?
I know who Sonny Tufts was--a fairly popular actor during the 1940s and into the 1950s. Apparently he fell victim to alcoholism and some other evils, so that he was something of a laughing stock in the end. I did some brief Google research but could not find any explanation. I'd be interested to know if anyone with some acting/stage experience knows about this, or if someone can find the explanation!
