We thought it would be neat to have open threads where folks can discuss the scripts, especially the differences from what was actually in the episode.
For instance, in Inferno... the food fight scene! I for one am glad they left it out, though apparently it was filmed. Somewhere there's a picture of Lydia dumping or threatening to dump a bowl on Jim's head.

A picture appears in the gallery section of the bonuses on Season One disc 7. It appears Jim already had something dumped on his head and Lydia is threatening to pour champagne on him. It's a cute pic. You can also find it as #20 in the gallery folder on my box page.

THAT'S where I saw it. Thanks. Would have been a wild scene, but as far as I'm concerned, totally inappropriate for the episode.
I think I mentioned in an earlier discussion that perhaps it occurred to the PTB that Jim would have had to go somewhere to clean up before moving onto the next scene!
The tag is also different from what was actually filmed.

What I find interesting is that Artemus is discribed as a small man. The army man he plays at the start is discribed as small sparrow of a man. I wonder if the script was written well before TPTB decided on RM for the part. At almost 6' and around 180 pounds, RM could hardly be discribed as small. Though I think it is an indication of his genius that he is able to project himself as a character physically smaller or larger than what he himself actually is.

I've thought about that often. Pretty obviously the character of Artemus was envisioned as quite different from what it became. As far as that goes, so was Jim West's and in particular, the relationship and partnership between the pair. I'm pretty sure i read that Ross was cast before Robert was, so it appears that someone recognized the genius of Ross Martin and how he would be able to bring Artemus Gordon to life. More than likely later scripts were written for Ross Martin rather than the character described in the script.
