Last week when I found out that little children had been targeted and killed in CT I wanted to go to my 7 year old son's school and pick him up. He had just had his Christmas concert the day before so I kept imagining those kids...
So yesterday at work I found out that our high school had a gun threat...the police brought in a metal detector and my 8th grader was not to take her purse or her backpack to school today. I prayed for guidance because I didn't know whether I should send her or not. As I read through Psalms 51 and 52, I felt that I wasn't reading in the right place, but then came to Psalm 53:5 "They were overwhelmed with dread when there was nothing to dread." She went to school with just a quiver of nerves...but I have been telling all three of my children that I love them, everyday, for the past few months. I just wanted to tell everyone how important that is.

Very good Apple that was a very nice post and yes you are so right! Don't show fear and don't give into fear either, because that is what "they" want! You did the right thing Apple showing your children you love them and you are not afraid. Good one! I will keep your children and all children around the world in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you Arwen...we haven't met yet Welcome. Yes, I want to show my kids that there is nothing to fear with God. If I hadn't found that verse, she would have stayed home. Half of the students in her classes were not in school...last day before Christmas vacation too. Our pastor called me this afternoon and told me that all looked well at the school (his office window looks out on the school). It was nice to hear a reassuring voice, even though I knew in my heart that she was all right.

I find that when needing the right words whether spoken or written they tend to be there right at the right time. And it's always good to have a reassuring voice be there also when you need it. It's having the awareness and consciousness that God is there in the most subtlest ways.
You must have ears to hear and the inner knowing.
Thank you for the welcome Apple. ;D
