Are there any episodes you don't watch very often, but when you do, it's primarily because there is one (or two) scene(s) you like? I can think of a few that I seem to avoid watching, then periodically I think about that scene, so I watch it.
One in particular is Returning Dead. The scene I like is when Artie sets Jim up for the fight in the street and then says "Never on Sunday." Always makes me smile.
Another is Sudden Plague. I like when Jim just about loses it with the governor, putting the razor to his throat after the gov nonchalantly mentions that Artie sustained a concussion and left to find Jim. The muscles in Jim's jaw are tight!
I also like the tag to Sudden Plague. They don't always get the girl, either of them!

I like the shaving scene in Sudden Plague...but then I like the episode pretty well.
The one that comes to mind is Bluebeard the trapper in Firebrand. Though I like Pernell Roberts, I think this episode is one of the low points to Season 3, but I watch it just for the "I'm bored" scene.
Another scene I like (and another episode in which I like the guest star, but not the episode) is Jim laughing when Superstar throws Count Draja in Iron Fist. It's not often we see genuine laughter from James West.

I could watch Druid's Blood just for the graveyard scene. ("Are you humming?" "Me? I only whistle in graveyards.")

It comprises several scenes, but the only reason I ever watch "Wolf" is to see Jim in that jacket.

I'm rather guilty of watching The Night of the Two-Legged Buffalo for Artie's costume and the Prince's interesting personality.

The only reason I ever even watch the beginning of Diva is just to see the guys reunite. That is one terrific scene. The rest of the episode I skip, there just isn't anything else I like about it.

And the title of the book Artie is reading that Jim takes from his hand during the reunion scene...

It comprises several scenes, but the only reason I ever watch "Wolf" is to see Jim in that jacket. The jacket is a nice change of scenery. I enjoy the scene where Artie tells Jim about werewolves. And the scene where Artie arrives in his royal disguise. I have to admit, there's not a whole lot more in this one.

There is one other little bit in Wolf that always catches my attention. After Artie arrives and he notices Jim's torn sleeve. He keeps trying to ask about the wound and obviously is concerned about it, but Jim just ignores him.

There are two bathtub scenes in Thousand Eyes--and for me, they're about the only reason to watch the episode. And in Red-Eyed Madman it would be the bullet-splitting scene. It's riveting.

It's riveting. well, Thousand Eyes is one I really enjoy most of, except for that absurd dinner and derringer scene with Jim and ... oh, yes, Jennifer... But Red-Eyed... yeah that's a struggle for me as well... and I'm trying right now but can't think of even ONE scene that 'saves' "Druids Blood" ... if it weren't for Jim and Artie runnin' around lookin' gorgeous... I'd totally skip this one, especially "Asmodeus" and his ridiculous little moustache, not to mention all those scientists brains bubbling away! Cringe worthy? Yes, absolutely!

And the ding-bat chant in the room of mannekins. Didn't that very same chant turn up again in a later episode?

Montezuma's Hordes, which I watched last night. Definitely the same recording.

The best parts of Druid's Blood are definitely the scenes between Jim and Artie, especially when Jim staggers into the senator's house drugged, and later when Artie reassures him at the train.

Hey I thought the best scene in Druid's Blood was when Asmodeus drops dead!! Haha-- Don Rickles was definitely mis-cast in this ep. I wonder if he even remembers doing it???

And my only favorite scene in Winged Terror 1 & 2 was Jim dodging the exploding pinatas. That's pretty much it. Good they repeated part of that at the opening of part 2 to show what happened in part 1, otherwise there would have been nothing good to watch. -----Except Michelle Carey, but I'm talking about the story itself!!

I liked the fight scene while that one thug was singing, who Jim sang along with for a moment--the camera work was pretty cool showing Jim beating all those other thugs one after the next. Other than that, kinda weak for Artie's return episode.

I'm with DT on Firebrand. I hate Firebrand (mainly cause of the uber-annoying girl character!) the only saving graces for this ep is Artie as Bluebeard the trapper and then later when Jim is tied up "James, James, James. You're always hanging around." "Lately I seem to get tied up in my work" "You know you really should try to get away from it all" ;D (I hope that's right... been a long time since I reviewed this ep!)

I like Firebrand because I like Pernell Roberts, but when I watch it, I have to force myself to ignore the annoying Vixen.

Dieter, this can't be! Something we agree on? Rickles was one of the worst jobs of casting in this series, and imo, any other series, too. Doesn't W3 'legend' say the show wanted Vincent Price in this role but that didn't get worked out? Heck, I would have taken just about anyone else from Tony Eiseley [sp?] to Victor Buono, to ... just about any other choice, especially if that other choice was actually able to act. Sigh.

For Winged Terror (which I think I've only seen twice in my life) it's the scene where Frank Harper nearly shoots Jim.
Imagine if that had been Artie though.

That is (only) one reason I seldom watch Winged Terror. I cannot help but imagine Artie's reaction if HE had come that close to shooting Jim. (See Death Masks.) The whole thing would have been so much better with Artie.

I was really surprised at Bill Schallert's performance in that episode. He was terrific in Gruesome Games and Bubba Bubbling Death, but in Winged Terror I thought he seemed tired and old, with low energy, like he just didn't want to be there. Maybe he felt badly about taking Ross's place, but as a professional he shouldn't have shown it.

You know, Bill Schallert was more accustomed to playing sly bad guys or the kindly father/doctor/minister/professor... Maybe playing an action hero wasn't comfortable for him. But they needed someone who could assume other roles at the same time, a la Artie/Ross, and Bill could do that. He had shown it in Gruesome Games.
