WE'RE AHEAD 61 TO 60!! Looks like I broke a tie. Apple, I got a pop-up from Publisher's Clearinghouse, so Netflix might not be the sponsor.

I don't think the pop-ups have anything to do with who is sponsoring the quiz. I get them all over the place although Firefox does a generally good job of suppressing them. Lately they are appearing in the middle of the page instead of the top. Some kind of new strategy I assume to prevent that suppression. Guess I'll see how many times I can vote today.

Once again I was able to vote from all 3 browsers. The WWW total is 67, with 60 for Gunsmoke.
Wonder when the poll ends!

I know Snish, I saw that. But I also saw that as soon as I voted the pop up occurred, so it's definitely an ad generator.

I see WWW is 53 votes ahead of Gunsmoke now, but also noticed a couple of complaints from people saying the poll isn't fair because of people voting more than once to stuff the ballot box. Hmm--now where did they get that idea??? Haha Maybe better stop voting. WWW already nailed it.

Hmm--now where did they get that idea??? Haha Maybe better stop voting. WWW already nailed it. There's nothing to stop the Gunsmoke (and other) fans from voting more as well. If they're not interested enough...too bad. I intend to keep showing support (or as much as I have time for) until they close the poll. And now someone has complained that WWW shouldn't even be in the Westerns category. Too bad as well. We weren't the ones to set up the poll in the first place.

The Wild Wild West was and is considered a western. They ride horses. ;D It takes place in the 1870s and primarily in the west, though a few episodes are in SF or DC. One could argue that Gunsmoke wasn't a western because it takes place mostly in Dodge City! And you are right, Diva. They just need to organize their fans! I did go to the poll hoster's home page to see if there was a way to identify who posted the poll. I couldn't find anything, but apparently there are certain features that one has to pay for, such as strictly limiting voting opportunities. Apparently whoever set up this poll did not pay.

If I thought the poll was meaningful (hosted by some organization that actually meant to do something with the information), I wouldn't have voted more than once. When you don't even know who set it up or why, it doesn't seem too meaningful! And any poll whose software allows multiple votes can't possibly be used for anything. So it's just for a laugh, as far as I'm concerned.

So it's just for a laugh, as far as I'm concerned. If it was someone like CBS or someone else thinking of rebooting a series--or even a channel wondering how popular certain series were and whether it would be worthwhile to purchase airing rights--they would have set it up differently to make sure that it was one-person-one-vote. Or you'd at least think so. But there really ought to be a way to find out who is presenting the poll and also a cutoff date.

I was wondering how these people actually decided they know people are voting multiple times for WWW--I'm thinking they are just Gunsmoke fans that are bummed that their favorite show is being beaten now. ;D Also----I wonder where this pole came from too and what it's for, but mayyybee Pet knows?? She's the one that found it somewhere in the first place. Petshkee???

I'm sure the numbers get padded for other things that do really count. Like American Idol votes. Even if they can block repeat votes from a single source, who says voters aren't repeat voting on all their non-voting friends and family phones if they're available and willing. It's going to happen.
