Oh really?? I thought Beverly's went completely bankrupt, CalGal. I could be wrong then--Ours unfortunately shut down anyways. Terrific store--I took the kids there almost every day to get crafts stuff to make things all the time. They were around the corner in walking distance even from me. Now I shop at Fresh & Easy all the time there instead. Haha Another terrific store though at least.

we have Michael's & uhhh dang what was the name of the other one... crud I forget! They used to have lots of yarn but now the yarn supply in that store is dwindling I has gotten some actually really nice gold brocade for the corset for my Renn costume and the skirt was a heavy forest green cloth (probably supposed to be for curtains, but I LOVE forest green!!) I think lightweight upholstery/curtain fabric makes for a better, more substantial looking costume (I'm not about to buy a hoop for underneath). Forest green is nice (goes with my red hair), but my favorite is teal (and turquoise), or cobalt, then purple. One thing I can't do is wear pastels - my light complexion just blends in with them.

Micheals is definately very cool still too. They have alot of great Christmas decorations right now. Just like they did for Halloween too. My favorite stuff there right now is new Christmas Village houses. They are better than the old "It's a Wonderful Life" village Target sold years ago, which we have every house of. And lots of Department 56 houses to go with it. We are in the Christmas and Halloween spirit all year round over here.

we must be twins Diva no pastels, and blue doesn't look too great on me though I like blue. I'm supposed to wear (ugly) earth tones but everyone loves purple on me, so that's why the Bo-Peep costume was purple Bo-Peep was broadcloth but it gave me the look I wanted for that dress. When I get around to making my own civil war era costume I am 99% sure I am going with the upholstry fabric! heh heh... when I made the Renn costume I had to get my dad to tie my corset which tied down the sides and I wore it over a white square cut peasant blouse. My dad tied the sides with the bow at the top, didn't like it, tied it with the bow at the bottom, didn't like it, then made me cut several strips of ribbon and I ended up with 3 or 4 bows going down each side of my corset under my arms when he was finally satisfied Sounds like my kind of house Dieter it's killing me that I can't decorate my hotel room (not to mention I don't stay at any given hotel long enough to decorate it even if I could!)

I'll let you know about Beverly's Monday. I'm going to the part of the county where it is located and plan to stop in--if it's still there!

Whoa.... I wanna be there! So many monitors! Were there really that many computer screens on the original bridge? The answer must be yes, I just don't remember it being quite so dense and colorful.

I bet modern technology has added to the colors. All those bright colors is what the bridge looked like in my mind, especially when I watched it on a black & white set when I was very young. The replica is unbelievable!

Whoa! Great stories, Diva. I am so jealous, but so happy for you that you were able to go again. 2007 was my year for spending so much moola in the name of Ross Martin! LOL! I keep finding things that I forgot that I bought :/
We have Joann's here, but it's in a very bustling shopping area that I don't venture too. Our Wal*Mart stores in this area depleted their once wonderful craft/fabric department and you can't buy fabric here anymore. Well, one did give in to a petition by local sewing teachers to bring it back, I was surprised to find. But to make room for it they depleted the craft department even more! It's sad, because the Wal*Mart Craft department used to be a store in itself!

the WalMart up here in Milford CT actually has not only Lily n Creme cotton but Peaches n Cream!! Since when did Walmart start stocking the fancy cotton?! Mine doesn't!!! You're right Apple... Walmart is seriously depleting its craft department There's a JoAnn's by the Milford CT Walmart and I had to force myself not to go in after I spent $100 on Christmas and birthday presents for my nieces!

Civil War era costumes frighten me too... I am VERY glad that WWW takes place during the early Victorian i.e. "the bustle era"... because I love THAT period! And I have a lot of experience with it from working for Mystic Seaport for so many years. My favorite fabric store is Osgoods Textiles in W. Spfld MA. They carry a wide variety and their prices are dirt cheap. Joanne's and other chains seem to have NOTHING any longer (sometimes I do find treasures in the clearance or 'reg tag' section, as Diva will attest to!). I've got pics to post from the pickup shoot, but they have to be approved by what's-his-name first and we've been a tad busy. Will have more chatty things to say in the next couple days, but wanted to stop by now and let you know what has been keeping me busy... ... it's not complete, and will continually be updated, but you asked for it... you got it.... www.cafepress.com/backtow3enjoy!!

Well, I can tell you that I won't be buying the Artie's Angels Thong, but I think it's hilarious that it's available! The reusable shopping bag, now, that pleases the environmentalist in me.

Did you notice that "our" designations made the list as well - Paul's Pets and Cawley's Cadre. You KNOW I have to have one of each when (and if) I make it to the next shoot!
My whole wardrobe is probably going to be from cafepress!!!

I'm terrified about toting up my "want list"
At least two raglans: Jim and Artie 1 and Paul's Pets At least two long sleeve t's: Back to the WWW and Cawley's Cadre An apron A tote (I want the expensive one, of course, but will settle for the lower priced one) Keychain - HOW to decide (maybe the second poster) Pajamas - think another Jim and Artie 1 And a shot glass, drinking glass and definitely a mug
Lord help me if (and when) there are MORE designs. I'm kinda hoping for one of Artie in the Fringe Jacket (which hasn't even been made yet (since James showed me the material) but I'm thinking ahead!!) and I NEED one of Artie in the burgundy!
Well...bit by bit...I expect I'll be subsidizing the shoot!!!

I saw the thong earlier today...oh my! LOL! Not me, ladies, not me. I think I will settle for a key chain, it's the simplest and the least expensive. I won't wear the shirts probably, so yep, the key chain...Hey, is there a water bottle?

I won't wear the shirts probably, so yep, the key chain...Hey, is there a water bottle? There are several types of containers for liquids. I don't want to go back to CafePress at the moment - too tempting! As for me, I definitely WILL wear the shirts. Especially at the shoot (if I make it, that is). Plus I'll get one soon-ish as I want to wear them at rehearsals for the play Marvell Rep is putting on. I've just been asked to be Asst Stage Manager!! Yippee and...yikes!

I understand "yippee and...yikes".
At the shoot last summer, the gaffer came along, explained what he needed lighted, said "Brian is in charge" and left.
My first reaction was "Yippee!".
Then Chris asked "What do you want us to do, boss?"
My first thought then was "Yikes".
I actually didn't get it set up quite right but in hindsight, that worked out great because it could be corrected in just a couple of minutes and I learned and, more importantly, REMEMBER what I learned much better that way.
