In case anyone is unaware, a teaser is the opening scene to an episode, before the main title, and the tag is the closing scene. Some Wild Wild West episodes don't really have a true tag, such as TNOT Howling Light. Most are quite distinct, especially when the boys end up back in the varnish car, with or without bimbos. (You can list least favorites too; I probably will before the thread is finished.)
We had this topic on the other board a couple of times, but there are folks here who don't or seldom visit the other place, so let's try it here.
One of my favorite teasers is for Golden Cobra, where the boys are practicing their martial arts, and they get a message that a commendation is on its way. Their bubble is burst a few moments later with another message to head for Oklahoma. (It doesn't hurt that Jim is shirtless through most of this teaser!)
A favorite tag is for Underground Terror, when the boys flimflam the colonel with the flipflop table. I love the expressions on all three!

I wouldn't call it a favorite of mine, but I always closely watch the teaser to Golden Cobra. You can see Robert Conrad's knuckle prints in the board after he hits it with his left hand and fails to break it. Ouch! That must have hurt! He breaks it after switching to his right hand. I wonder if he really needed to use his right hand to break it

And you know what? I even took the time to look at a "preview" of my post. Read it through and never saw that. We need beta readers for our posts sometimes!

I was trying to think of other episodes that didn't have a defined tag and remembered a couple: Bogus Bandits and Vipers. They just... end.
I don't like the tag to my favorite episode, Pistoleros, because it really doesn't relate to the episode, other than Jim asking about the trial (and why wasn't he AT the trial?). A real letdown.

I wonder if he really needed to use his right hand to break it I always thought that was intentional to not be able to break it with his left hand since he is right handed. But the second they got the bad news, he switched to his regular right hand and snapped it without a problem. ha

A couple other no tag episodes were Colonel's Ghost and Simian Terror. You could say Man-Eating House too---since the whole episode was basically going to begin all over again!

Ace, I too had noted the off-center and held-back hits. I particularly like the tag on Golden Cobra because of the, uh, pretty kitty the boys wind up with. One of the few episodes I remembered bits and pieces of from my childhood viewing of it. And it has Boris Karloff! Just marvelous!
I watched Flying Pie Plate last night. Poor Artie in the tag, bemoaning his greenness! However, the telegraphic message giving the sentences the baddies received (and wasn't that instant justice, considering Artie was still green) -- Victor, we are told, was given 10-20 years. But... wasn't Victor still in the pie plate when it exploded? I went back and watched through the fight a couple times, and I never saw him emerge before the door closed and jammed shut. So *huh?*

Wasn't Victor William Windom? I thought he got out of there. It was the other guy...oh darn, I will have to watch it now!

Yes, William Windom. Ok, Jim & Artie are tied up in the side room, Jim using his boot-toe knife to release his hands. Just as he's finishing that, Victor walks back in and Jim takes him down. Victor's on the floor and Jim helps Artie loose.
Scene shifts to outside -- Jim runs out first, starts fighting the two flunkies. Then 'Artie' (his stunt double) comes flying out of the pie plate and tackles Simon. Fighting fighting fighting. Eventually Artie (pretty sure it's Ross there) punches Simon good and Simon falls into the pie plate; door closes and jams. At no point in the fight did I see Victor come out. Maybe I missed it...

I like Pie-Plate too my dad thinks it's too campy, but that's why I like it I'm not sure if this would be one of my favorite "tags" (as in ending) but it certainly is a favorite scene of TNOT Cadre when Artie gets knocked out with his own gas and Jim puts the coverlet over him "congratulations Artie, you've done it" ;D That gets me every time ;D

Oh yes, I remember that about Victor now. I was remembering that Simon was lost in the explosion, but I had forgotten Victor.

I watched Tottering Tontine last night and I've got to say the Teaser is one of my favorites! Watch the activity in the background - carriages, tandem bicycle, penny-farthing - just a lot of everyday people doing everyday things. Then there is the reflection of the camera man in the tuba .

No sir! LOL That is great. I like that teaser too, but it seems so out of character for the series. Then, so does that whole episode...it takes on the flavor of an episode of Ellery Queen, which hadn't been started yet!

I do like that aspect of that teaser too. Gives the series a little flavor outside of riding a horse in a desert or walking around on a deserted wharf at night

I like the teaser from “The Night of the Iron Fist” because the switch-off is so smooth.

I just watched that a few minutes ago!
Yes, the switch is nice and smooth. I like the shots of the train's exterior, as well. We don't see enough close-ups of the varnish car.
