Dieter's "mystery quote" from Amnesiac reminded me of something. In that scene where Jim is standing on the coach with his gun on the Hispanic guy, just before he speaks the quote Dieter gave, he says "hablas español?" which, I believe, means, "do you speak Spanish?" Not sure why he would ask this obviously Mexican guy that, but even stranger is that he proceeds to address the guy in English. I suspect he meant to say "hablas inglés?" (pardon my rough Spanish), whether or not that was what was in the script or not. But who was going to notice back then on one viewing? That always had me scratching my head as well. I think your right that they let a lot of things slide because "who is going to notice that?"

This is not really a 'did you see that' more of a can someone explain this to me.
I always thought that the episodes were supposed to be under Grant's Presidential term which began in 1869. I was watching Man Eating House last night and the boys are reading Caroline Day's diary. Jim asks Artie if there is an entry from I think he said April or May of 1836, 'the year Lawrence Liston Day was arrested and sentenced to prison'. They stated a number of times in the ep that Day spent 30 years in solitary before escaping, which is what they are doing there to begin with. Returining him to prison. That would make the year they are in 1866, 2 years before Grant took office. Are they talking in generalities. 30 years plus or minus? Or is it a slip up they thought would never be noticed? I know I never did the math on it til last night. LOL

That drives me crazy too, qohart. I certainly hope that it's a generality...

Hmm. I don't think I ever noticed that. Haven't watched that ep for awhile. Guess it's time to cue it up and check those dates.
I suspect, however, it's either generalities or the same old, "who's ever going to notice...?" ;D

Yep, they do say they had the wrong man imprisoned for "30 years." Not "about 30 years," or "more than 30 years" from the year 1836. Someone didn't know their history or just didn't care at the time. By the way, how was Day, excuse me, Dias, going to control the rats so that they infected ONLY Texas?

In TNOT Infernal Machine, the opening of act 4, Jim tests a bullet proof vest he is wearing under his regular vest. He turns to go to the hidden cache of guns etc. and we see that the back of the vest is white. Close up of Jim loading up on weaponry and he is clearly wearing a vest with a black back. This alternates from long shots to close shots.

Another question about Amnesiac. When Jim is shot and tumbles off the stagecoach, he drops his gun and falls alongside it. The Mexican bandit jumps down and appears to pick it up, sticking it in his waistband. A closeup appears to show an empty holster on Jim's gunbelt. When the old prospector strips him, he takes the gunbelt--which still looks empty. In fact i think he "thanks" Jim for the gunbelt. Then when Artemus spots the rig in the pawnshop window, it still appears to be empty. However, when Artie enters, he has Jim's gun in his hand--and frightens the pawnbroker with it. Artie asks, "where'd you get this gun?" That's what I'd like to know!

If I remember correctly, I think Jim loses his gun during the fight with Irish, the gun the Mexican steals comes from the stage coach driver. I assume the desert rat found Jim's gun before he found Jim (or maybe afterwards - there is no indication as to direction of travel). I am going on memory here (which turned a year older today), but I had the same question and I think this is what I decided.

Hmm... I'll have to watch it again (darn!) and pay more attention to the fight in the coach. But I believe Jim had A gun in his hand when he's standing on the coach asking the Mexican if he speaks Spanish. Happy Birthday! (my memory turns a year old on Sunday)

Jim did drop his own gun, I'm guessing at least a half to 3 quarters of a mile back, maybe more. At least that's what it seemed like. I always tell myself the ol prospector must have followed the road back and found it, because it is the rattlesnake grip gun in the store window. (my suspension of belief has had to work over time in quite a few episodes! LOL! ;D)

Was watching TNOT Gruesome Games and noticed that in the doctor's office where Raker is pronounced dead, the barkeep tells Jim and Artie that Lola Cortez has left already for Krause's home. Another stage is to pick up Raker. So why is she in the stage with Artie (disguised as Raker) on the way to Krause's in the very next scene?
This is all y'all's fault. I never noticed these kinds of things before. LOL

LOL I always assumed that the stage took her luggage, but for some reason didn't take her at the same time (maybe there was not enough room for her and her luggage )

In The Night of the Returning Dead, when everyone is in the barn and Peter Lawford is bending down to talk to Sammy Davis, Jr.'s character Jeremiah, Lawford's wristwatch is clearly visible.
