I bought 3 scripts off ebay (and will be posting them as soon as I get them typed up). One is TNOT Camera--which, in case anyone wonders, has Jeremy's name in the script rather than Artemus--whether or not it was originally written this way, who knows. It's a "final draft" dated 10/1/68.
Anyway, at the beginning there is inserted this page with the following note. It's in the same typescript (Courier) as the script itself so presumably was typed up by the writers at the behest of the producer.
NOTE TO DIRECTORS:
The producer respectfully asks that no violent acts be shot which are not depicted in the script or discussed beforehand with the producer or associate producer.
Most particularly stay away from gratuitous ad libs, such as slaps, pointing of firearms or other weapons at characters (especially in close quarters), kicks and the use of furniture and other objects in fight scenes.
We will be most grateful for your cooperation in these matters.
Interesting. I think Camera was one of the least violent episodes.
(I'll post this on the other board eventually, but wanted to start it here first.)

The beginning of the end I didn't realize that any of the fight scenes were "ad lib". RC usually describes them as well choreographed. Boy, I would have loved to watch them filmed!

I checked the production order and Camera was in the second half of the season's shooting, so probably the network (and producer) was really feeling the wrath of the anti-violence league.
I'm like DT, I thought all the fight scenes were well choreographed, but it could have been that that gang got carried away at times.

Wow that's really interesting! I like how they spell out what NOT to do...using furniture! Hey Cal Gal, does it say whether the stand in for Bosley Cranston during the karate scene is RC? It sure looks like him.

It sure looks like him. They don't usually mention such things in the script, but I'll take a look when I get a chance. I just glanced at the script to see if it named Jeremy or Artemus, and that's how I saw the violence warning note. You know that scene in Underground Terror (just before the ripped trousers), RC gets clobbered by a chair and it doesn't break. Wonder if that was ad-libbed!

Looking at RC (such a chore, I know ) after he gets clobbered, he sure looks stunned. It was a real chair. I read somewhere that it was picked up accidentally by one of the stuntmen.

That's the scene!! I had heard about the non-breaking chair, but could never remember what episode it was from.

I'm trying to visualize that scene without putting disk in. Is that where he's half standing up, his arms kind of out in front of him and he staggers a couple of steps. His face is totally blank? OUCH!!

Yes, he staggers--but then immediately rejoins the fray! You can tell the stagger wasn't just "acting," as in a few other episodes where he's clobbered by a break-away chair.
