HEY GUYS I do troll Deadline Hollywood guess what it back POSSIBLTY EXCLUSIVE: In one of the highest-profile reboots this season, CBS is looking to revive the 1960s action-adventure Western The Wild Wild West with former CSI executive producer/co-showrunner Naren Shankar and Battlestar Galactica developer/executive producer Ron Moore. The network is negotiating a deal for the project, which will be co-produced by CBS TV Studios, where Shankar is based with an overall deal, and Sony Pictures TV where Moore is under an overall deal. The project originated at CBS TV Studios which has the rights to the original series that ran on CBS from 1965-1969. (My new colleague Michael Ausiello broke the original story about the project when he was at EW and helped with this one too.) www.deadline.com/2010/11/cbs-to-remake-the-wild-wild-west-series-with-writers-ron-moore-and-naren-shankar/

I just don't know whether it's good or bad news. As ccb posted on the other board, you can't go home again. One might also add, leave well enough alone.
So we'll see what happens, most importantly, with the casting. Still have this dreadful feeling one or both will be changed to a female character!

If they turn Artie into a female they won't like the emails they will get from me! Pet, if they follow the pattern they set up with Galactica, [please don't shoot at me, other gems,] I think it's far more likely they will switch genders on Jim... I say this because it was Starbuck who they changed on the Galactica remake was originally the far busier 'playboy' on BG, not Apollo. And at least in first season of W3 that description more fits James than it does Artemus. remakes are chancy things, as we all know too well. I don't have high hopes for this one. I do find it interesting that someone is willing to try it after the debacle of that hideous movie.

I already spat and sputtered on the other board so I won't repeat it here. I can't believe they'd try turning James West into a girl after the reaction to what they did with his “new persona” in the movie. But I wouldn't put it past them either, to do something so crappy. And Pet, if they turn Artemus into a girl, I'm going to make you a voodoo doll of Mr. Moore, complete with matches to set his hair on fire and a lifetime supply of pins. LOL!

Interesting to see what they do with it. I don't think westerns are very popular w/ the new generations. Is there even one newly produced western on tv now?
I would check it out. It doesn't matter to me what they come up with it's not the WWW and never will be. No matter how well it does it will never be popular with core fans of the original and I am sure that CBS doesn't care if we like it or not. Look how many original fans hate most of season 4 ..lol... To think that those same fans would like this is .....is.....ahhahahahhaaha
Seems they are going back to the 60's every year to find a new show to re-do. I am slightly surprised that WWW is on the list because it's a western. Besides Brisco , Young Guns and Medicine Woman has there been any new TV westerns popular or not in the last 2 decades?

I guess the most popular western of late was "Deadwood," and it certainly was not your "old fashioned western." Which to me is one of the problems. They insist on making the newer westerns extra gritty and dirty, full of 4-letter words. The charm of the older westerns was the "innocence" of them, if you will. I'm watching "Lawman" on the Westerns channel every morning. The marshal is strong, upright and moral. Like Matt Dillon, he has not kissed the show's version of "Miss Kitty," nor is he likely to. He is incorruptible. In other words, heroes. We just don't have them around anymore. Not on TV anyway.
But it's also amazing how much of a story they could cram into about 25 minutes!

As long as they Steampunk it up...it might be an interesting show. the blending of western and SciFi is a fun theme. Cowboys and Aliens is almost out...what do you think of it? www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2998704153/

I'm looking forward to Cowboys & Aliens--although I probably won't see it in the theater. (Unless it gets such rave reviews I can't stand staying away and will have to take the time and spend the money.) I saw the teaser a few weeks ago and was instantly interested.
With True Grit coming (back), maybe Westerns will make a reappearance.

I am not a fan of remakes especially being a core fan. I hated the New Battlestar. They are making to many shows like one another. Let's see something original.. And you can not remake a John Wayne Classic thats just againt all natural laws.... Basically they will fill it with to much foul, language, blood and guts and Adult situations and loose all notion of plot lets face it most people now a days don't want a plot just a fast paced show. Ok I am off my soap box now...

On his radio show, Robert Conrad has mentioned several times that he wants to or plans to be involved with the new show. If he has his way, the new Wild Wild West will hold to the same values as the original one. He would like to see his son Shane or his grandson (I can't remember if he mentioned a name) play the role of Jim West because they could do the stunts.
