I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jack O'Diamonds. A plot essential if ever there was one. He got the title billing!

Well, I guess I should have not limited it to cats and dogs in the title and my opening. I forgot about the other animals that were important to the plot! There weren't any fish were there?

Well, if we're expanding to animals in general, let's not forget Count Manzeppi little friend Loki. I think he was a Capuchin monkey, but I could be mistaken.

Forgot about good old Akbar! I think that was the only critter that wasn't a cat or dog--oh, wait! The bird in Dr. Loveless Died that memorized the will. Now, the writers could have come up with another way to present the will, but in this case, the boid was absolutely essential because they DIDN'T do it another way. I'm sure someone else can say what kind of bird it was. I should have made the topic "animals" essential to the plots! Should we mention the rats in Man-Eating House? And then there were the ants--but we never see them. ;D There was the raven in TNot Raven, although the cat got more screen time and it would have made more sense to name the ep. after it. I'm thinking there were birds in other episodes, but I can't specifically recall. Other than the carrier pigeons, I mean. I think the bird in Loveless Died was a mynah... maybe.

I don't suppose we should consider the "two-legged buffalo." Yep, if I had thought further, I would have said "all critters that made a difference," although as I said, I wanted to give a lot of credit to the cats!

You guys wow! You accuse Ace for going off topic for expressing her opinions and backing them up with her reasons. And look at you you're totally off topic!! And then you pass personal judgements on her?!!!! Yes California Gal you are open to peoples opinions as long as they agree with you. This forum has a double standard!! I have a mind to report you to Proboards. This behavior is unacceptable!

I wondered when one of you would show up. Ace is SO lucky to have such LOYAL friends. We aren't going "off topic." I agreed to the fact that other animals were key to several episodes so that I should have started the thread as "all critters" instead of just cats and dogs. And since it's MY thread, I can do that. Capeesh? Besides which, no on told Ace she couldn't do what she was doing. No one said she could post what she posted. I just said that that wasn't the intent of the thread, and that's my prerogative as the originator of the thread. Ace. or anyone, can post pictures of the bird and lion and the ants and whatever else she wants. She obviously gets her kicks by posting lots of pix. No one told Ace she couldn't have her opinion. We just asked, as we have so many times, that she respects ours. What she thinks isn't necessarily what everyone things. Ace or anyone can start another thread and control it the same way. Also, as a thread gets older, it tends to get looser. Once all the subjects intended are covered. So just cool down, A. I very much doubt that Proboards cares what we post here. And no one is forcing you to be here if you don't like us.

I think it's interesting that there are more cats than dogs in the series. I mean, wouldn't you expect a Western to have more dogs? Ranchers, settlers, everyone had them. Plus dogs are easier to train and work with. But it seems that secret agents and villains prefer cats. Cats are stealthy and silent and fit better into the small train set. Imagine a dog walking around in the train knocking things down with his tail. ;D Any breed of dog can be sweet and loving if it's raised right. I don't think there are any vicious breeds. arabella, I absolutely agree, dogs are by their nature and instinct pack animals, affectionate as all get out and immensely loving beings, in RL we can see time and time again where a dog will take anything at all in the way of attention from its human companions and still love them with all its big heart. You have to abuse ANY sort of animal to bring out their so called dangerous side. You have to 'train' them by hurting them, in order to cause them to attack people. Of course that's not the kind of training I was talking about for dogs or other animals in the movies and on tv. Those animals learn to act in certain ways, for a few moments, for a reward. Cats btw are also very affectionate creatures when they're treated with warmth and affection. That's why I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I still hear people who've never been owned by a cat say they think cats are aloof, cold natured creatures. Some cats prefer to be 'only children'... but that's not the same thing, either.

This is very fitting for this thread www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjQNoXWBWaMNo you are the one that doesn't get it. You are the one that dictates who's opinion is important if Ace or I have an opinion and it doesn't fit into your opinion then Ace is off topic. And yes Ace has loyal friends you have a problem with it? What does that have to do with your cat and dog thread? What a bunch of kindergarten girlie behavior. My oh my!
