My oldest daughter, who was just leaving 2nd grade when I discovered the www forums, is now in 8th grade (first year of high school). She auditioned for our school district's spring musical and just found out that she made it into the ensemble! The funny thing is that they are doing Beauty and the Beast which was her favorite Disney movie when she was 3..."I not 'R', I Belle". Yeah, really.
Of course, her best friend's older sister is Belle, because she is a senior, and R didn't try out for a specific role. She has years to get that confident!

Congratulations to your daughter! That's awesome that she made it in, especially when she's loved the story so long.

Good for her - and it'll be a great learning opportunity. So many talented folks are ensemble folks. And you never know where that leads.
True story - during the run of Pirates of Penzance on Broadway, the regular understudy was on vacation. The actor in the role of Frederick became suddenly ill - and, yep, an ensemble member stepped in and NAILED It. They would have had to cancel the show without him. And he's now Director of Opera at Notre Dame. Ensemble folk RULE!! ;D

I was talking to a mom in the library today whose daughter (10th grade) has been doing the musicals for the past 2 years. I told her that my daughter made the ensemble and she asked her name...she looked surprised when I told her my daughter's name because her daughter had told her what a great singer mine was! I am preening like a peacock today !!

Well, she has to start somewhere!
Does or did she take any dancing lessons?

No, no dancing lessons. She was a figure skater for 7 years though. She does well at home, listening to music and dancing, better than I ever did. She won't be one of the 'real' dancers in the production, what got her in was her voice. Big shocker to my mom who says none of us have singing talent. Well, she must have got it from Wade's dad's (NOT my MIL's side!!!) side of the family...or my dad's.
Pippa has, for the past year, been spending time out on the swingset, swinging and singing to her ipod. She shuts the back door and no one is to be outside or open the door when she is out there...but the neighbor says he doesn't need his XM Radio anymore!
