I also posted this in the Grant's Briefing Room section but am reposting it here in case folks don't read that section.
I know we have a lot of board members on the East Coast. How is everyone now that Sandy is moving on? Everything here is a little bent but still standing.
Hope to hear good news from everyone else.

Watching the Weather Channel, all I can say is--What A Mess!
Stay safe everyone.

My place is fine, no damage. Just some rain and a lot of wind. Friends of ours lost their roof though. It was raining into their 160-year-old house until they got a tarp on the roof.
Diva reports via Facebook that she's been without power for 23 hours.

From what I'm hearing, some people may be without power for days, even weeks. The storm has extended into Indiana now.

We had steady rain and wind last night. Woke up to water damage in our bedroom, the wall and floor under the window. Not a surprise, really, since it was damaged in the past and the rain and wind were hitting that side of the house the entire night. Also had water coming into the basement from our front porch, also not a surprise. A birdhouse on a pole in our yard was on the ground. That's it. Our county government closed down early yesterday and stayed closed today. That meant that I didn't have to go to work today since the library is a county office.

I've been keeping in touch with family and friends back home in NJ and it's a royal mess... Some have power back and some don't... those who don't have been charging their cell phones with their car chargers to stay in touch. Fortunately my dad's house did not suffer any damage and no trees came down this time, and they have power back. Where my home office is however... the park by the river near Rutgers (New Brunswick campus) is underwater up to the roofs of the buildings, trees down, power lines down, trains washed onto the Turnpike and transformers have blown all around the state.
I hope and pray that everyone on the east coast is hanging in there and doing okay all things considered...

Light glorious light! And fridge and pc and microwave - and a long, hot soak in the tub!
A little over 36 hours without power - and one smallish tree downed (but not uprooted, so I got it hauled up and tied to the fence) - but that's NOTHING compared to the devastation some people are facing. My neighborhood is one of the lucky ones.

You are a truly blessed woman, Diva. God certainly was watching over you, as you were in my prayers last week. Glad to know that you are doing OK over there in New York.

I heard from Y-gal/Yankee gal who lives in NJ. They were without power (and heat) for 4 days but came through much better than many others.
