TNOT Pistoleros is one of the very best episodes of Season 4, a real gem in amongst all of the rocks of episodes included in that particular season.
However, a couple of things came into my mind yesterday as I was doing yardwork outside that I thought would merit a good discussion from all of you fine wonderful people.
First, Do you think that Ross is playing the faux-Artie, in the whispery, raspy voice tone in the scene where he talks to Jim--and then convinces him that he is actually dead? It sure sounds like him, but his voice is so whispery I am not so sure.
Another thing I am not sure about is the picture that Artie shows to the photographer before he gets kidnapped. Does the photo actually look like Artie/Ross? The photo in question has the look of Ross going to be a guest star on "The High Chapperal." CalGal posted a screencap of Artie holding the photo in question on the "Frivilous" thread in case she wants to reupload it here.
Again, just curious as to your thoughts about this. It should make for a very interesting discussion.

Yes, of course it's Ross in both instances. ;D I don't think they could have found another. He was one of a kind.
The photo is of him in his disguise as Hallelujah Harry in TNOT Fugitives. Who knows who actually took the picture if Artie didn't know about it!

Who knows who actually took the picture if Artie didn't know about it! That's a good question--because in those days you couldn't just whip out your digital camera and snap a photo of someone without them noticing. How *did* someone get a photo of Artie that he didn't even know about?

Just watched this episode, the photographer told Artie that someone brought him the negative to make prints from. So maybe it was stolen? In Artie's book of some of the disguises he'd done, he had some photographs in addition to his sketches. Could it be he had a photo taken of himself as HH and that negative was stolen?

I rewatched the scenes in question last night in preperation for coming back on here today. Until CalGal cleared up the mystery for me, I now thought that Ross did the first half of the scene in question, and someone else did the rest of the scene leading up to Artie's "Death".
And I was surprised to find out that the picture came from TNOT Fugitives! If you look at it really closely, Ross sure has some Latin/Mexican facial features in that shot! He kind of has the looks of a young Ricardo Montalban in that particular photo, which they did a close-up scene of when Artie retrieved it off of the dead body.
On a related subject, CalGal, I just finished up your most recent fanfic about this particular episode last night before I went to bed (I printed it up on the day you posted it so I could read it at home). It never even occured to me that Alvin Murray could have been an imposter as well! It was very well-written, and made for some very interesting reading.
Thanks again for all of your help in clearing up this mystery for me. I really appreciate it.
