Zimmerman, I'm avoiding giving spoilers because Calgal said she didn't want to read Luckyladybug's story until it's completely posted. Since we know for a fact that someone who is reading the thread we are currently posting in has not read that incomplete story, it is just simple courtesy and respect to not post spoilers of that story in this thread. Please.

Zimmerman: Thanks! I'll check that out. Wow, it's too bad they didn't make a new one for each season. Thank you for your continuing comments! I suppose we'd better move story-related comments to Private Messaging? Dieter: The last time Gomer was on any local channel of mine was maybe ... twelve, thirteen years ago, when I was recording the episodes. Niecie: Sorry, it's my fault for encouraging it. I'm so unused to how things work on this board that I was wondering if anyone even gave feedback on the stories here. The way it usually works where I come from is that after every chapter, people post in the same thread with the story and comment on it. Or there's a public place for reviews and everyone reviews a story there. With neither thing seeming to be the case here, I was a bit puzzled. And when people started commenting here, and Zimmerman was describing his reactions, I was delighted and wanted to talk about it. Sorry.

Usually here, after the story is posted, one of the admins locks the story, and someone starts a thread for comments. For example, I just recently posted 'TNOT Fan Girl,' and then posted a comments thread, 'A new fanfic - and this one's a crossover.' I'm not really sure how it's supposed to work for a work-in-progress. But I suppose you could start your own comment thread for your story. That way, anyone who is waiting to read your story once it's finished can just avoid the comment thread. Um... new chapter soon, I hope? I really like your premise!

Ahh, I see. I saw that thread of yours, but I thought it was just your announcement that the story was up. Thanks for telling me how it works around here. When I was advised of telling when it was done so it could be locked, I thought that meant there wouldn't be any comments at all and I was disappointed. There really isn't much posted information where fanfics and comments are concerned, except for the rules on what not to write.
And thank you! I'm hoping to write the next chapter today. I'm alternating between working on it and on a Perry Mason mystery.

Yeah I guess there's not much demand to see Gomer Pyle these days-- Not on any of the new retro channels like ME-TV, Antenna or RTN. So I guess the only way to see it is to buy the DVD's.

Zimmerman: Glad you enjoyed the screencaps! I thought it would be a good idea to include them for identification purposes. And ah, that's too bad that there's only clips for that episode. Looks like I'll be digging through my tape after all! Dieter: It could be some copyright issues tangling things up, too. Who knows. I'm not sure the DVDs even have the original theme music.

You probably have some of the Same LP'S I Have: Galveston, By Request, Jim Nabors Sings, The Jim Nabors Hour, Everything Is Beautiful, Kiss Me Goodbye, and his "Gomer Pyle" record, Shazam, are just a few of the Jim Nabors records I have in my own collection.

Looks like I'll be digging through my tape after all! Dieter: It could be some copyright issues tangling things up, too. Who knows. I'm not sure the DVDs even have the original theme music. Ladybug, the Gomer Pyle DVDs do have music changed, and some episodes could be edited. one glaring example is on "Duke Slater--Nightclub Comic", wherein they changed "Harlem Nocturne" and Seymour Vericchi's horn number. My Local FYE has seasons 3,4, and 5, for $14.99, and sometimes Big Lots has some season sets on sale for $10.00 during the holiday season for Christmas gift-giving.

**headdesk.** Oh gosh. It's so annoying when copyright tangles force the changing of music! Thanks for the heads-up! We no longer have a free-standing FYE near us, but there's a little one in the mall. I'll see if their prices have come down that low. Although with all those changes and possible edits, I don't know but what I'd just as soon have my faithful old tapes and save my money for stuff I don't have in any form.

There really isn't much posted information where fanfics and comments are concerned, except for the rules on what not to write. The fics are locked so that there is continuity of story, like in your case where you are posting it a little at a time. It can get a little crazy having a story start in a thread and then suddenly there are comments in the middle! And sometimes a reader will start a new thread in the discussion area to make comments about a story.

Yeah, I figured that was the reason. But I still didn't get how receiving comments worked in that case, and I didn't like to ask because I thought it would probably look greedy or some such thing. I really do think there should be more information up on postings fics, maybe in a little sticky post, and not just what we're not supposed to post. I was really confused because there wasn't any other info available.

Yeah, I browse the TV show section every week, but my Wal-Mart doesn't have it. They used to have DuckTales and Chip and Dale, too, but I haven't seen them there in months. Ha, I'm rather geekily happy that my chapters are being printed out! Thank you so much for your kind words!

Ladybug, you missed your chance to watch Richard Anderson on TV today, as his "Bonanza" episode, "Judgement At Tahoe", aired at 2:00 Central Time on TV Land earlier this afternoon. Jamison Fillmore was a VERY BAD big bad in that particular episode.
