I watched both TNOT Man-Eating House and Lord of Limbo recently and something occurred to me.
Suppose the male guest star had been switched? That is, Ricardo Montalban played Liston Lawrence Day, and Hurd Hatfield played Col. Vautrain? I can see pluses and minuses.
For one thing, if Montalban played Day, he would have the Hispanic appearance and accent. And Hatfield could be a southern gentleman easily. I've always assumed that Montalban's Vautrain was supposed to be Creole, but it was never made clear.
Interestingly, both roles had the men becoming younger in the episodes.
We're so accustomed to seeing them in the roles as cast, it's difficult to picture anyone else, that's for sure!

oh yes, I can see the switch. And Hurd Hatfield as Colonel Vautrain, oh yes, when he was regenerated he looked so...so...handsomely...deliciously evil and I think that could have worked.
So yes, we would have had two episodes which would have been drooled over and worn away because they were so good.

Don't forget that Hurd Hatfield played the evil Dr. Articulus in TNOT Undead, and did it well.
I think both men could have played both roles with ease, but I would have been interesting to have an actual Hispanic portray Day/Diaz in Man-Eating House.
