just to try to open a discussion, I have a couple more of my bothersome questions:
only someone with a writerly brain and waaaay too much time on her/his hands would even think of these things
here's part one:
What in your opinion would Jim or Artie NOT do for their partner? Sort of the reverse idea of how far would they go?
my own ideas are as follows, just to get this kick started:
burn down the Capitol Building
marry some pretty young thing they didn't actually care for.
blow up the Brooklyn Bridge, sorry didn't exist at that time, never mind this one.
steal the Crown Jewels of England... well, Jim says he's been to London.
there you have a few of my harebrained examples. What are yours?

Let's see... they would not commit a murder they would not betray the President, their country, or each other they would not intentionally hurt their partner they would not leave their partner behind they would not betray a confidence That's all I can come up with for now...next?

Just as Q mentioned the word "intentionally" I don't think they would intentionally leave their partner behind because a situation may come up where Jim or Artie just might be forced to leave their partner behind. That would be dramatic! I don't think they would steal a long time girl friend relationship, bride to be or if it were to occur any one of them getting married, they would not steal away from their partner those types of relationships. Both Jim & Artie would be respectful to each other. Neither one would throw their partner under the stage coach! Neither one would allow the other to drink and drive. Neither one would allow a good brunt of a joke to miss it's target upon one of them. ;D Where their partner is concerned, neither one would allow Loveless to get the upper hand in his diabolical plans to separate them as a dynamic unit. Meaning, that neither Jim or Artie will allow Loveless to get the final ending blow to either partner. Q covered a lot of territory in Q's posted answer, making it hard to follow that post.
