Strange what one thinks of while drifting off the sleep. Last night I started wondering how many, if any, episodes were there where the guys never mounted a horse.
The one I came up with was Burning Diamond. They got around by "taxi" in that episode, I believe, never stepping into the saddle.
In the next episode, Murderous Spring, Jim was never on a horse. Artie came into town on the stagecoach (twice!), and then acquired a horse to take him to the hospital.
So can you think of any others where one or both of the agents never sat in the saddle during the entire episode?

Hmm... were there any horses in Big Blackmail? I think they spent the whole ep. in Washington.

Big Blast, too, but it was New Orleans that time.

When one starts thinking about something like this is when you realize that it probably happened numerous times. Just not noticed.
In Death Masks, I believe, Artie was on a horse briefly but not Jim. (He never got to mount the nervous horse in Paradox.)

No horses in TNOT Bottomless Pit, either.

I'll have to double check [oh the torture!] but it seems to me that in the first season there were fewer times when our agents were on horseback, or that in some eps that season there were only a moment here or there when Jim or Artie was riding.
Murderous Spring as noted was one of those latter, but now I'm thinking about eps like Wizard, Terror, Thousand Eyes, Howling Light... and I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem as though there was a lot of riding done in in those and a few others, not by our agent heroes.
Second season, more riding but not so much in Skulls, I don't think, and very little if any in Big Blast... I mean Jim or Artie riding horseback, not driving a carriage.
well, there's my .02 on the question. I'm perfectly willing to sit corrected.

I'm wondering if Amnesiac qualifies. Jim rides in the stagecoach, Artie has his wagon. I don't think we see either one on horseback--until the very last scene, which appears to show the pair of them riding across a prairie. Or a pair of someones riding across a prairie.

I watch Torture Chamber semi-frequently, and I don't seem to recall any horses in it....
