Ah, but Williams had worked with someone who had say-so, I think...or maybe Devito was too busy with Taxi at the time? (I can't remember the timeline). <Ahem> Um... Sadly, I think it was actually Ross's idea to cast Paul Williams, who was a friend of his. I guess nobody has good ideas all the time. (And it's not like they had to listen to him.) DeVito wasn't well known at the time either. I think Taxi was his first big thing and he probably was too busy with it. Given the quality of the script, it might not have made much difference. Just a thought.

Williams was very popular for a while, although he was... um... a better songwriter than actor.

oh interesting! I forgot about that! Funny how around the same time frame Williams was in H50 with RM. I was not too wild about that script either so that's what I thought you might be talking about. Thanks for clarifying. I agree Williams should stick with music.

Working on a story and I'm trying to recall how many times JW tries/ thinks he has/ or pretends he has killed AG? I have: TNOF Big Blast ( thinks he has) TNOF Skulls (pretends he has) and I know there are few others. Anyone know? All help is appreciated. And while I'm at it, is there an episode where AG kills JW? I'm thinking: no.[/quote] ___________________________________________________ Heh I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but back to the original topic, I'm up to 6 times JW kills Artie: add TNOT Cadre. JW is pretending to be a prisoneer being transferred from one jail to annother and Artie is the prison guard and driver. JW shoots him twicw before riding off with the bad guys. FYI!

OK, here's my count:
* JW pretends to kill/ thinks his killed AG in: Murderous Spring, Fatal Trap, Cadre, Legion of Death, Skulls = 5
If you add Pistoleros, and Limbo its a TOTAL of AG getting killed = 7
I made a mistake in my last post by starting with my last total which was 5, but that included Pistoleros. So I resulted with an erroneous total for JW doing AG in = 6. In fact the total is 5.
* NOW, AG thinks he's killed/ pretends to kill JW in: Death Masks and one other I believe (?). I thought a second episode was mentioned on this thread but I guess I've missed it. So for now the total = 1 How many times does JW get done in by a bad guy? Anyone want to take a shot (Pun Alert!!)?
Let's see if I got it right this time.

Right now I can't think of any times Artie may have thought Jim was dead at the hands of the villain.
But Jim may have thought Artie had drowned in Steel Assassin, and I don't think he was positive Artie was going to come back to life in Lord of Limbo after being killed as Jack Maitland.
Oh, i just remembered Deadly Bed, at the end, when it appeared Jim may have been caught in the explosion. Artie obviously believed his friend had bought it.

And not to forget, The NOT Big Blast, where it appears pretty certain that Jim blew himself up.
Jim done in by Artie= 1 Death Masks So far, Jim done in by bad guys=2 Deadly Bed, Big Blast
I'll have to watch Steel Assassin again. That would bring Artie's total of being knocked off by bad guys = 8
My goodness! PS My chapter is coming up soon on Fan Fiction that was my impetuous for asking the question in the first place!
