Haven't read this one in a while, but I seem to recall the episode stuck pretty close to the script. Still doesn't really explain how Jim disappeared within that closed carriage though!

He disappeared? I thought the driver drove off with him inside after the carriage stopped shaking. Going to have to watch that scene again

But the driver peeks inside and there's no one there!

Is it possible that someone else could have been in the carriage to start with and the thumping was the man subduing West and then simply lifting the seat and dumping West under it, then climbing out himself? Or maybe I'm being too fanciful.
Or it's just black magic! Tyche

My first thoughts when I watched the episode was that there was a fight inside. But that doesn't explain why the interior was empty when the driver looked inside. Why wouldn't we see whoever (apparently) subdued Jim? Must have been a magic trick conjured by Asmodeus.
