Someone who's an expert on the series - wasn't there a change in the show midway through the season? something the sponsor insisted on? I remember reading something about it somewhere, and what I read seemed to be blaming the non-renewal of the series on that change to the premise. The change was to turn the Fortuna from a floating gambling palace into a restaurant. Big mistake as it took a bit of interesting edginess from the premise. But... that's like taking a Western that usually has at least two or three fights per episode and telling them no more violence, and the stars can't wear their guns! Oh wait...

There are hack codes out there for making your DVD player region 0 and able to play all DVD's. I've never tried it, but I know about it because the first 7 seasons of Bonanza were released in Germany and a lot of folks from here in the States bought copies. So because these German copies were from a different region, they found the hack codes on the internet and made their DVD players able to play them. Now that the official seasons of Bonanza are being released with extras, anyone outside of the U.S. has to hack their DVD player to see them.

it's called firm ware ... there are some players that are easier to change than others. always a chance that you will ruin the machine in the process. you type in the model number of your player and add firmware to the search and see if you can do it with yours. I would research it before you do it and see if others with your brand have had success.

I always wondered about the different regions dvd's come from--there are a bunch I want to buy from Europe, Australia/New Zealand but had no clue if they would play on my dvd players. I got VHS tapes of Starsky & Hutch from England and they didn't play on my player at all--completely distorted. But at least I have the cool boxes they made for those tapes--they look better than the ones they made here.

There's a different format for VHS tapes too. Years ago we arranged to get tapes of a TV show that was relevant to the stars of The Lost World from a fan in The Netherlands. It was in that other format--and I'm having trouble remember what it is called. In any case, before we could copy it for fans here in the US we had to have it converted.
Never did understand how we all ended up having the different formats!

I think it may have to do with the difference in voltage. The US electric is 110 volts while Europe and most of the rest of the world is 220. Whenever I went to Europe I had to have a converter to use my razor and hair dryer, etc. They have more power so I assume that's why their VHS and dvd's are also made to fit their electrical system which won't work here at all.

I am not sure how things will change, but Shout! Factory recently acquired Timeless Media, so the ordering process just might be a little bit different.

You're right, zimmerman. I remember reading about that. So perhaps they'll get their act together now. Can hope, because they put out a lot of great series.

San Marino, CA (outside of LA) I'll be scanning the science collection at the Huntington Library I'm hoping while I'm there that I will get to meet some of you who live on the West Coast (I'm no stranger to mad long car rides and weekend adventures ) Ask Aunt Maud, I'm good with public transit too I definitely am going to make the trip to San Francisco to see my dad's cousin whom I haven't seen in like 8 or so years, my mom lives on the outskirts of Las Vegas and my sister lives in Tucson, so I plan on doing a lot of traveling when I can have a work-free weekend here and there (While in the UK I was living in London for a few months and in Milton Park a tiny village for a few months, I got to visit Cardiff, Canterbury and Oxford to name a few places, I'm not missing any opportunities to travel the West Coast while I'm there!) hehehe come to think of it, my coworkers are going to think I'm more nuts than they already think I am ;D two other gals are coming out with me for the first two months and I'm gonna drive them nuts with WWW and then Mr. Lucky ;D

lol TONS of overtime is expected but they can't make me work 7 days a week Yeah I was out in San Marino for a total of 3 days back in May I think it was to do the demo Actual production on the job starts Oct 1, 2012 and most likely I'll be flying out only 2 or 3 days prior (I have a feeling they're going to fly me out after work on Friday and expect my coworkers and I to be at work at 8am on Monday ) I have to start deciding what's coming out with me for 6 to 8 months or longer ;D (they're shipping my car out for me so I'm going to load it with extra clothes, books and dvds and tons of yarn for knitting/crocheting on my lunch breaks

Video store? What's a video store? All the old Blockbusters around me closed ages ago. And the likes of Target, Walmart, etc. don't carry all that wide a variety.
I just ordered mine from DeepDiscountDVD. The price went up to $26.49 (free shipping), but that's still a few bucks below the next cheapest.
I already have an IOffer copy, but I want the professional (and hopefully better) one. You will LOVE this series. Ross is soooooo adorable. Actually, I coined a term for him in this one - Andamodorable!

erm Best Buy is usually good about having random box sets... otherwise I'll have to wait until I get into my townhouse in CA and order it when I'm 100% positive I know the address!
I love it! ;D

Walmart and Target both had some of the WWW seasons, so they might, might have Mr. Lucky. Long shot though.

Wal-Mart might get it, especially since they're currently carrying some other more obscure shows such as Laredo, but it might take them a while. Seems like the only classic TV shows they carry in the brick-and-mortar stores have been out on DVD for some time. Of course, the website might have it for sure.

Somewhat. Plays better on my TV than on the PC - but that's where I get the screen caps from.
Not too bad considering the caps are cut from a larger screen and and enlarged (and sharpened, and contrasted and whatever I could do with my ancient graphics program to get them clearer).
Still, an afternoon spent with Andamo is an afternoon well spent! ;D
